RDCK wastes Public money on solar Part 4

ARE YOU STILL READING? Suggested reading  Real Engineering Report of Solar  Suggested viewing    "Planet of the Humans" This is about the Balfour Seniors Center Solar System from Public grant money. (there is the Balfour community hall and golf clubhouse also) Public grant money benefiting no one except a small reduction in the buildings electric bills.  The money could go to real society needs instead of this misguided fantasy.. The Alberta salesmen did a number on the RDCK.  Why is the system making 25% less power than elsewhere?  There are many possibilities.  Underperforming panels brought from Alberta, who is going to know?  Less than adequate inverters not making use of all the power as seen below.  At least the on line public data represents what is installed.  The community hall and golf clubhouse systems are both fiddled with to make them appear to be making more power than they are.  This was the installing company, one mistake? possibl

PREMEDITATED  PUBLIC DECEPTION or just plain  FRAUD! All  applications and engineering I have reviewed for solar power systems are dishonest.   There is always a professional consultant willing to step on their ethics and provide a phony report or write a letter of support providing credibility to pad a  grant application. In the case of the Balfour public solar grants, the Pembina Institute was involved.   This blog is about the Balfour Community Hall.  A grant application showing a positive economic return was necessary was created.  And the on line public data is phony.  There is no accountability. Nothing has changed although I have pointed this out to any and all involved.   The deception continues. I would recommend reading  THE REAL ECONOMICS OF SOLAR     RDCK wastes Public money part 1 Part 2  This being Part 3, and there will be more. The RDCK information available on the web for this project shows it to be a 16kW system.  The on line

GRANT ELIGIBILITY SCAM Like every solar project grant application I have seen, a fantasy created to meet the eligibility.  Or in the case of the Nelson solar garden if you have read my previous (recommended before reading any of this) info, unethical engineers report designed to provide a business case.  Presented to Nelson city council by their expert, Alex Love, manager of Nelson hydro.  The biggest piece of engineering garbage I have seen yet regarding a solar project.  Accountability - none. Everything I have posted is old news, I have presented all of this to the previous mayor and council present mayor and council,  RDCK directors more than once or several times to director Faust and Newell. Nothing changed! This is just another kick at the can, now that I see this new facebook page for ratepayers,  letting you know what happens to your money.  Can you get accountability? Dandelion Renewables kind of shorted you on the B

GRANTS DON'T MAKE UNAFFORDABLE PROJECTS AFFORDABLE IT JUST                                                                CHANGES  WHO PAYS                     Grant money is not free.   I am trying to stop the bleed of public money into something that can't work for us. Suggested reading  "The Real Engineering Report on solar in BC" There are so many things wrong with the RDCK/Balfour Rec. Commission solar system info I will have to do this in multi-part or your eyes will just glaze over.  Balfour Rec Commission received grant money to instal three solar systems,  the Golf Clubhouse Community Hall and Seniors Center. Some background on what solar systems do for us here in the water powered Kootenays. Almost all annual solar power is made when we don't need it, its as worthless as the water spilling down the river that we aren't using, yet we allow full value for this feel good power never mind wasting public dollars installing

The Real Engineering Report on the Economics of Solar in BC

This article is not about solar but more about professional ethics, dishonesty, public deception and accountability........there is NONE> I complained to the Professional engineers Society of BC, mayor council and many others.  So far, any eco website or green related media block, deny, and disallow my comments and information, they have an agenda, its not about public money and economics.  As long as this continues our public pockets will continue to be picked for this waste of public dollars. Update 9/2020  The Nelson hydro manager, engineer who brought a  phony engineering report to city council showing them the Community Solar Garden  had a business case has left,  unaccountable  for his dishonesty and disrespect to his professonal ethics, his mayor and council, the city taxpayers and Nelson hydro ratepayers.  This leaves the CAO and others still accountable for all the dishonesty.  I provided all the information to the previous mayor and council, met with the hydro engineer, c

Nelson Business's suffering financially from Covid19 Opportunity

I SEE A LOT OF ROOM IN COST ESTIMATES TO BE A SUCCESSFUL BIDDER City bike lane on third St and Nelson ave to Vernon about 2 km total.             Possibly $670,000 or more with extras available for bid opportunities. Considering the plight of so many businesses in the city regarding closures due to the Covid 19 event, I see a possibility of some financial assistance. I am not sure who to contact in the city, start with the mayor would be my recommendation. It would be good to know who is behind the project and where it all started so you have a contact and can get your foot in the door. Some estimates of the $606,000 project (Newspaper item states up to $670,000). Below from the Grant application estimates: I see a huge opportunity at being a successful bidder, estimates above show for example Third St. signage  $35,000 High St. $37,440 with 7 signs already in place 14 Curb ramps on  Third St. at $12,000 each                 Above -  High St. b

Nelson Bike Route Grant Application FRAUD?

Image
In My opinion this grant application is designed to extract the maximum amount available, from the  $500,000 available, why didn't they go for the full amount? What number is correct, or is it all a guess? The first newspaper story shows $670,000 with $180,000 from the city. I have seen $650,000, the application I have shows $608,000.  At the public meeting the city planner upon my questioning about costs stated there was a 40% contingency built in. The grant suggests 20% contingency maximum, so why is he telling me 40%?                               UPDATE:   City council meeting June 2  High St. one way is not going ahead to be reviewed at a future date. A major part of the application costs, is the application amount adjusted? I have asked the city councilor on the project if there are any quotes supporting their costs. For example over $37,000 for signage and painting on Third St., about 1 km. Over $38,000 for signage and painting on High St. about 1.2
