How to Get Public Money for Solar Systems - Lie!!!!!!!

Some examples of grant money wasted on solar systems

1.    Sometime ago I became aware of a YouTube video for a solar system on the
Cowichan Nature Centre on Vancouver Island.  A video of outrageous claims.

I contacted the grantors, and did get the YouTube video removed.

2.  The Ministry of Education had a study done that showed schools would save money
with solar power systems.  I researched that, the study was done by the engineer who owned
the Victoria solar power sales company and sold the solar power systems.  $100 000 in solar went to Haida Gwaii, school district, possibly  the least sunny place on the planet.

SD10 received some of these for schools in New Denver and Naksup.  They were providing public on line data.  I contacted the SD10 superintendent laid out the phony study and thought this
could be the beginning of some honesty.   Her response, remove the on line public info.  When I asked why, she said it was an internet security risk.  Apparently not a security risk at other schools.

The same engineer sold EV charging systems.  He received a grant from the Fraser Basin Council
for an EV charging system.
My FOI request for his application was denied, they are exempt from answering an FOI.

I did receive a blank application.  Criteria was, the EV charging station was to be on or close to a major travel corridor, restaurants, accommodation, tourist attractions and shopping.  Giving those charging something to do while they are spending a lot of time recharging their vehicle.

From Google Maps streetview the engineers place of business, a light industrial area meeting none of the grant criteria.  The EV charging station attached to his business, one of the still remaining houses in what has become an industrial park.
Yellow arrow points to the EV charger installed with public grant money on his business premises.  In front of the electric Nissan Leaf, another photo shows the side of that vehicle covered in signage advertising his business.

3.  Our own city councilor Logtenberg had a solar system installed on his business, building top floor,  from grant money.    The application done by the engineer who owned the solar business on the ground floor.  I have the FOI application, his data suggested annual solar power that could only be earned in Arizona, it met all the grant criteria.  His business facebook page stated he had taken the CBT workshop on how to apply for grant money.  (this wasn't a CBT grant, it was provincial).

The business and solar system disappeared in months, the councilor, his brother in law and wife all principles in the business went to Vancouver.

They later reappeared in Nelson, I asked the councilor what happened to the solar system paid for with public grant money.   He didn't know, only his brother in law knew?

With some persistence the story changed, Logtenberg once emailed me
"I have spoken to people and they tell me I don't have to tell you anything"

Later his brother in law came up with  "it went to a non profit".

To this date there has been no answer to the question regarding where the system went or
whether they profited from the sale.   Their lack of response suggests only one conclusion.

So far I have achieved little success in stopping the waste of public money for solar systems.

There always seems to be an engineer willing to step on their professional ethics to create a grant application that meets eligibility requirements.
Salespeople, they are motivated for a sale, enough said.

My response from Nelson city mayors, councilor, and mangement, deny, discredit and hope
I go away.  No accountability.

A recent Castlegar city council meeting had a presentation from the Selkirk College renewable energy instructor promoting solar.  I saved the video.

Castlegar city hall now has solar power systems from CBT grant money.

Selkirk college has solar power, I have asked whether they will provide public access to the
data on line, they are working on it.

How will this waste of public money stop when educators, engineers and salespeople create
grant applications showing eligibility for grant money from false statements?

My estimate, easily more than a million dollars of public money within a short travel radius of Castlegar for solar power systems.   At an estimated $4/watt installed, $1M would install
250,000 kW of solar panels.  Nelson community solar garden has 60 kW.  From October through
March it made power for little more than one house.

Therefore $1M in local solar panel systems from public money might make power in the winter months from October through March for possibly 5 average homes.

We have to do things that work, microhydro works, Nakusp city
put microhydro on their city water intake for $150,000 it makes power for 50 homes all year round.  It will last a century.

All these solar panels age making less power every year and will be toxic junk if they last 25 years!
